CRANSTON, RI—Police are investigating an incident after school at Cranston High School West on Monday involving three students, but aren’t releasing specifics about exactly what happened.
Cranston Police Major Todd Patalano said the investigation is related to students who attend the school and “there is no danger to anyone at this time.”
Parents were notified Tuesday by Principal Thomas Barbieri that school officials were “provided information about an incident that occurred after school yesterday involving three of our students.”
That information came Tuesday morning. In response, school officials launched an investigation with the school resource officer at the school “in cooperation with Cranston police,” Barbieri said.
“At this time the matter has been resolved and referred to the Cranston Police for further action,” the principal said.
“The administration at Cranston High School West considers the safety and well-being all members of the school community to be paramount,” Barbieri said. “Please rest assured that at no time during school day was the safety of our students, faculty or staff compromised.”
Police did not confirm whether or not a student brought a gun to school, which many parents say is what happened. Parents in multiple Cranston school Facebook groups on Tuesday said their children told them a student brought in a gun.
