Providence hotel evacuated due to toxic smoke, police say

Toxic smoke from a suspected drug lab forced the evacuation of a Providence hotel Tuesday night, according to authorities.

Police told NBC 10 that they are seeking four suspects after the incident occurred at the Hilton Garden Inn on India Street around 4 p.m.

NBC 10 arrived at the scene as smoke poured from a room on the third floor.

As firefighters worked the scene, their toxic sensors went off and they broke a window to vent the smoke. Police and DEA agents then found drug evidence in the room.

The hotel was promptly evacuated.

Police said the suspects ran off by the time they arrived.
