School administrators in East Providence said Tuesday that they are disciplining a school bus driver and a bus monitor for a mix-up involving a elementary school student.
The school department is being tight-lipped about specifics, but NBC 10 News learned that a kindergartner was sent home on a bus Friday and let off without a parent being present or even at home.
The child was supposed to go to an after-school program.
In a statement released Tuesday, Superintendent Kathryn Crowley blamed a “communication issue.”
“Additional protocols have been put in place with the after-school programs to insure that this type of incident does not occur in the future,” Crowley said.
It was unclear what happened to the child after being let off the bus.
